Telecommunications

Telecommunication technologies are transforming the way Americans work, purchase goods and services, communicate, and play.  Telecommunication advances have particularly important benefits to people with disabilities living in rural areas and to those who provide services to this population.  However, surveys consistently report that people with disabilities have only half the rate of Internet access of people without a disability and that non-metro people with disabilities experience the lowest rate of usage.
