Social Media Policy

The Research and Training Center on Disability in Rural Communities (RTC:Rural) maintains a presence on social media in order to provide information and resources on topics related to disability research and knowledge translation that are pertinent to rural communities.

We strive to create an informative, open and respectful presence on social media, and encourage and appreciate fair comments and discussion on our social media platforms. However, we reserve the right to remove posts that include personal or private information, promote commercial products, or are otherwise inappropriate, as described below. You may suggest removal of any comment you feel violates this policy by emailing us at rtcrural@mso.umt.edu.

The following social media policy applies to all of RTC:Rural’s social media channels including:

Content of Posts

RTC:Rural posts resources and information that we think will be of use to our many audiences on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. The content of our posts is focused on serving rural communities, persons with disabilities, practitioners, and policy makers. These may include news stories, videos, downloadable resources, and links to organizations.

The messages we convey on social media are a part of RTC:Rural’s public presence. In order to best craft those messages, our team engages in dialogue around what we will post. We share thoughts and perspectives about potential posts before putting them on social media. We value the multiple perspectives of our team members, and we believe that the thought we put into our social media presence helps us to better serve our stakeholders who follow us.

In the public sphere of social media, RTC:Rural cannot respond to individual requests for information or assistance. Your personal information is too public in these spaces. Social media followers are invited to submit requests via email to rtcrural@mso.umt.edu. We will be pleased to respond to your individual requests promptly and thoroughly via email or telephone.
