There are 257,167,527 civilian, non-institutionalized individuals, 5 years and older. 49,746,248 (19.3%) have a disability. According to the Office of Management and Budget county classifications of November 2004, there are 1,089 metropolitan counties with a total population of 232,579,940. There are 212,657,595 metropolitan civilian, non-institutionalized individuals, 5 years and older. 40,091,987 (18.9%) have a disability. There are 2,052 non-metropolitan counties with a total population of 48,841,966. There are 44,509,932 non-metropolitan civilian, non-institutionalized individuals, 5 years and older. 9,654,261 (21.7%) have a disability.
